Question Pettit Steering Column Gauge Mount

I installed this thing over the weekend and there is nothing to attach it to the lower steering wheel piece. It just kind of sits there. Anyone used this gauge mount before or have any sugestions to sevure it? Its a nice looking piece but I can't have it just sitting there, for what they charge for this thing I would expect a better solution. Thanks!

I believe thats how the new ones are. They are knock off RE's. I have one as well, except mine has tabs. I have heard MANY people say that these new ones don't (new being over a year ago till now).

Most common way to fix that is via velcrow.

Just get some black silicone, put some on the tabs on the lower side of the gauge pod, slip it down into the bottom half and clean off the excess around the edges that squeeze out. This fixed mine.

I have the RE pod, dont waste your money. THere are problems with that pod and fitment, seeing as how it is made for a RHD car. Plus my autometer doesnt fit completely into the RE, even tho rotary performance sells them together.

Its better than having to sand and glue a knock off together, all you need to do is trim the side so the stalks fit properly. My defi d-gauge fits perfectly.

the pettit one is not a knock off. it's a great piece, and it looks amazing in the end. you just have to take your time with it.

Works great for me. Just use a little dab of black silicon on the tabs and squeeze together with thick rubber bands for a few days. Has not fallen off in over 2 years and looks great. People think it's stock...

I noticed it sits up a little higher than the upper stock piece, has anyone tried to trim about a 1/4 inch off along the bottom to try and lower it. Looks like that would pretty hard to do and still have it line up corectly.

This also worked for me. Holds well, keeps it from rattling, is almost invisible, and if you ever have to take it apart again, you can do it without breaking anything.

thats what I did. I did it with a dremel, and a sanding block. I don't have my camera now, but I'll try to post pics.
