Question Pettit / M2 ECU question

I had this post over in the not-so-heavily-travelled Engine Management Forum. Any input is appreciated.

Here's what I have installed:

Pettit Intake
SS downpipe
high flow cat
Racing Beat dual tip
boost guage
turbo XS manual boost controller
Soon to be installed: RE Vmount with Koyo radiator
Stock engine, 55,000 miles, perfect 10-8-10 boost
all new vac. lines, plugs, wires

I know that I need an upgraded engine management system now considering my mods. Recently bought the RE Regular v-mount setup with a Koyo radiator. I don't plan on running the car with the IC kit until I have a good management system in place because of my other mods.

I really want to buy a used ECU from someone on the forum so I can just plug it in and get on my way.
I am under the impression that if I go the route of the Power FC (or similar) - I'll have to get it tuned by someone.

I basically drive the car for fun on the weekend and don't track it. So... can I get by safely with just the pre-programmed ECU like M2 or Pettit?

Thanks for any advice.

Dave

A remapped ECU would be fine for your setup

Yes, either will be fine. They will both allow you to run higher boost. If you are going to keep your boost where it is, you don't need to upgrade.

The "3 mod rule" is outdated, as long as you keep boost at 10 psi you will be fine on the stock ECU.

Thanks for the responses guys.
I didn't do the ECU yet because I never boost past 10. Obviously with the IC upgrade I would like to go a little further. Reading some threads let me know that I can get up to the 350 hp range with the stock fuel system - just need a different ECU to accomidate the A/F needs. Unlike some people, I am really happy with the 300 - 340 hp range. I'm trying to keep the car somewhat reliable
So - does anyone think it would be a bad idea to take the boost to 13 regularly if I have the new ECU?
