Pettit ECU+Midpipe?

Can you run the Pettit Unlimited ECU with a midpipe & boost controller without having a ported wastegate. *without experiencing dangerous boost creep.

I've searched only coming up with mixed answers for the past month...and I mean searched.

Same question w/the HKS FCON as well.(even though I've heard FCON has more aggressive timing)
Thanks.

Creep is caused by the exhaust flow exceeding the limits of a wastegate. No ECU or boost controller can control creep.

I'm pretty sure I'm the 46,463rd person to make this point on this board.

Just put restrictor plates in the exhaust so you don't boost pass 10psi

yea i know..but i've also seen plenty of threads stating that with the ECU you'll be fine. Id rather have my own post and gauge responses that are NEW and not years old.

well I'd be running 12 psi with the boost controller. I've searched google and on the forum for restrictor plates for sale. No luck. Anyway you can point me in the right direction with a link.

You need to port your wastegate.

No. Boost controller won't do any good by itself.

There is no hard rule. Each car is different as to when or if it experiences creep. I knew someone who ran a full exhaust with the Pettit ECU for years without creep issues. However, he later ported his throttle body a little and started having creep issue. Unfortunately, you won't know until you try....

I ran with the Pettit Unlimited ECU. I had DP, Resonated MP, CB, FMIC and intake running 12 psi low 14 psi hi. I used a Greddy Proffec B never had any creep or problems. Car ran good.

Don't really see what the dilemma is. You either roll the dice and go ahead in running the Pettit unlimited ECU with the MP and no ported wastegate. Or make sure you've got your bases covered by porting the wastegate.

+1 the best way it to find out by yourself.

If you want or find out that you need restrictor plates, PM JyRO

The laws of physics have not changed in recent memory. And the same point re the wastegate's limited ability to flow is made at least monthly on this board.

Nobody that knows what they are talking about will claim that with an ECU you will be fine. You might, but, as others have stated, the only way to find out is to try it.

*sigh* high flow cat it is. Removing the twins and taking them to get ported and then putting them back in seems like too time consuming.

Yes mine ran really rich also. I had to clean my bumper after every spirited drive because it would be, literally, BLACK!!! After six month of that crap I had to get re-painted because it stained it really bad. Then I put the carbon fiber cover thing.

Oh BTW I ran all those mods without porting my wastegate. I set up my boost controller not to come so sharp. I had full 14psi at 3200 rpms (non seq.).

Oh its not that bad to take the turbos off. You should be able to take them off and port them yourself in one day. Dont send out for porting its really not that hard and there are tons of threads on it. Its better safe then sorry even with a high flow cat.
