Pettit ECU

I'm installing a Pettit Unlimited ECU that I just bought a little while ago from a forum member. I never thought to ask if his car was auto, or 5 speed. Mine is a 5 speed. . .will it matter if his computer is for an auto? How can I tell?

WOoooooooooooooo! ECU is in . . .and the car is running like a bat out of hell!! Big difference. I was having some backfiring issues (some pretty violent) with my mods, and the stock ECU. Now the car just runs. . .really runs. One great purchase!!

Mmmmmmmmmm, noobie question; Shouldn't you have more backfiring with the pettit than with the stock ECU because the mix is now richer??

Yeah, it wouldn't make sense that the stock ECU used to run richer than the Pettit.

Any of the real Guru's want to chime in on how this fixes the backfiring? Before I bought the ECU, I found numerous threads of people having the same trouble before getting and ECU tuned for the bolt on upgrades.

Just wondering why. . .

Well, it also depends on how many mods you have on it as well. What kinda mods do you have?

Pettit intake, large smic, full exhaust, koyo radiator, magnecore 10.5 plug wires, greddy bov, pretty much all the bolt-ons.

I didn't have as much of a backfire problem until the smic. . .that's when it got pretty bad. . .ecu fixed 'er right up.
