SOOO TRUE!!

All my friends...did you sell that cool black car?

Me: No it is getting some work done...

Them: for a whole year?

Me: It's a lot of work...

I haven't really ever driven my car really hard yet (owned it 17 months). I got into it a little bit when it had twins (first month of ownership, 282rwhp on dyno dynamics dyno) My girlfriend kept yelling at me to catch the Porsche...we did! She had a big smile on her face. Guy in brand new red 911 convertible had a big frown...

Guess that is my best memory so far.

My favorite reaction is when I took one of my best friends for a ride in my FD. The fastest car he has ever been in is his Mercury Mistique. The diologue went something like this....

(passanger)--Wow, this pulls hard!
(me)--Dude, thats 1/4 throtle and its only 2nd gear......ok, now I'll step on it!
(passanger)----OHHHHHHH SSSSNNNNAAAAPPPP!

the only other reaction i can really think of is when my grandmother saw the car for the first time, she said, "its too loud, and smells bad - park it accross the street." lol

...I´m never riding with you again, you´re f$%& crazy.
When I point out that I have not had a speeding ticket in 15 years, they say it is because the Cops can´t catch me. Not true, I would never run once the lights are on.
Wife.. OK and trusting.
Son and one Brother..Too damn small.
Other Brother..Can I drive it?
Mother..Screams.

Interesting purchase story. 1995, looking for a Dodge Stealth, saw this car in a used car lot. Didn´t even know what it was. Buffalo NY did not see many of these and I was a big block fan. Salesman knew nothing about it so suggested we take a ride. Middle of the day, no traffic. Accelerate onto 4 lane surface street, too much RPM, 2nd turbo kicks in and car does a 270 degree spin. Decided to take it at that moment. Took it out on a country road up to 130. Thought I was doing about 90. Car had 15K miles and the rear rubber was bald. Salesman pretty much wet himself...it was a Buick Dealer.

Last summer I took a Ford GT owner out for a few laps around the track at an HDPE. The whole afternoon I was killing him through the twisties but he would slowly walk me on the straights (I only run 10psi at the track for longevity). At first he couldnt believe how effortlessly the car took corners. He kept commenting on how balanced the car was, no push and no over steer. Then we hit the back straight. He was blown away at how hard it pulled. It did help exiting the last turn before the straight in 2nd sitting right about at 5000rpms. Can you say power band.

All of my instructors ask me what kind of boost Im running as were lapping. I tell them I run 10 psi on the track, and 16 on the street here and there for extra fun. Most of them cant believe the car has a lot more hp than theyre feeling. I run an RX-6 too, not a powerhouse by any means.

In the morning before HDPE's people kinda stick to themselves and I can tell they look down on the FD. (Porsche, ferrari, Z06, etc owners), then after the first session when I blow almost all of them away, they all come up and are like Holy sh*t. Whats in that thing? Always gives me a good laugh that my 13yo mazda will beat out new GT3's.

I get the normal "how to I get in/out stuff" but what I loved most was last year I was at a 2day HPDE/BMW race event. One of the local guys I know was there and he has been racing for many years and was in the BMW race, he's 60ish I'm 25. When I went to look to get my FD about a year and half ago he keep saying if I wanted something like that I needed to get a 300z or a SupraTT because they are suppose to be more reliable cars, and I kept telling him I wanted the FD because of it's size and I wasn't as interested in power as I was handling, and fun to drive factor.

Well the first session on the second day I let him drive it on the track because he said he has never drove an FD and would like to one day, WOW I can't believe I let someone drive it on the track. But he was amazed at how balanced it was and how effortlessly it took the turns, this was stock R1 suspension at the time. Later on he ended up saying he wished he could get his race car to feel like my basically stock FD felt. I just thought it was ironic since he was so against me getting one, and now he is amazed at the way it drove, and how much fun it is.

It is always fun to get out on a track and run down M's, Porsche's, and other high end cars with a 13+yr old car.

I give people rides every now and then in the mountains, and universally everyone's reaction is "ZOMG PIIMB!!!". Considering that even men say this, it's kinda disturbing.

"What the hell is that smell?"
