If your talking about the center console and dash I use three things. 1.one thing of rubbing alcohol 2. one old bath towel 3. A big bowl of wheaties because its going to take a while. After I did it though my interior shines so well you can see your reflection in it. The whole towel will be black from the paint. you may not even want to paint it after you see how nice it looks with out that shitty finish on it.

rubbing alchohol takes too long. Just get a plastic safe paint thinner like Easy Lift Off. I was able to strip all of my interior pieces in 30 minutes.

it cheaper if you get your parts repainted by a body shop than buying new 94/95 parts. they are very expensive. if not you can get the carbon fiber overlays.

ok i can't seem to find ELO around here, any other products? Ordering it is kind of bad since i am in canada.

what do you do with ELO, it is fast or do you have to let it rest with the product on it?

i have tried every single products i have in my house and nothing works well.

thanks a lot

you can usually find ELO at a hobby shop. If they don't have it, they are bound to have some other brand of plastic safe paint stripper.

you just apply it on a rag, wipe down the piece, let it rest for a few minutes, re-apply and wipe...repeat if necessary.

Acrysol. This junk is magical. The detail guys at the shop where I work use it on everything, and it works. It's safe for everything, the only problem is it's pretty pricey.

the best answer is this!!!!

The dash parts vary in price. The main center piece around the stick shift between the seats is about $70. I know, I bought one for my last fd. The other parts can range up to $320! The door part with the flip door is that much! Crazy I know.

My 3rd gen had a few small chips, but the plastic melting thing is weird! Mine did that too. But, I had a body shop paint them and they are absolutly perfect. As good as new. I would say to rip off all the parts and take them to a body shop.

I was told that there is only one kind of flat black and you really can't change the color. The shop I went to- it matched perfect. If you run out of luck, I can pass the info. to you and they can paint them for you. They are in WI 3 min. from my house. They did all mine for $100.

I used Tamiya spray paints. Turned out beautiful...only thing I forgot to do was to apply a clear coat on them. Some of the paint wore down due to friction, so im gonna repaint them and put on a good clearcoat for protection.

what would happen if i paint over the "vinyl" if there is no place where it looks bad? I mean that nothing peeled off on the guage cluster, do i have to remove it anyway before painting?

thanks a lot

Think Dash Overlay Kit!

I put a brushed alum kit on mine and now it looks great, also, it updated the look of an 8 yr old car.

I just painted my parts with tamia model paint. I went gunmetal. the finish was great.
before I painted my parts, I wiped them down real good with acetone.
the rags I was using turned black pretty quickly. I didn't have a pealing problem, but a bit of this stuff will take the paint off for sure. Don't get the plastic too wet with it though Im sure it's not good for the plastic. It will take the paint off. and it leaves the parts ready for paint. I didn't want my parts to be shiny when I was done, so rather then clear coat I applied several coats to wear items. Ill see how long it lasts If I do have problems, rather then clear coat, they make a dull coat too. Ill probably apply this.
