Passing emissions, passing inspection?

Can you pass inspection in Texas with muffler tape patching holes in your muffler? Can you even still buy muffler tape?

How do you attach a pair of SS exhaust tips to a very badly rusted end tubes of a very rusted exhaust? I need to extend the exhaust ends past the bumper to pass inspection...

Thanks!

I hate to say it but it sounds like you need to invest in a cat back exhaust, and if you don't have a downpipe yet, that would be a good idea also.

As soon as I can afford it, I'm gonna get a Racing Beat dual tip exhaust, but I'm probably gonna keep the downpipe and mid cat that came on it since I don't want to worry about overboosting.

You cannot pass emissions with the midpipe as you need a cat converter.

NorthWindHost: I'm not sure if you are agreeing with me or not? I am leaving my car's exhaust as stock except for the muffler end, which I am replacing with a RB Dual. I don't believe that there are any emission parts in that end exhaust/muffler, are there?

The cat back section has no emissions related components.

I'm happy with the RB dual-tip exhaust.

Thanks for the info John. I'm not looking to race, just be able to have some fun driving on the streets in my reconstituted FD for the least amount of money.

I was told that if I ONLY replace the cat back with the RB dual tip, the stock back pressure would be preserved and I would avoid overboosting and the need for a boost controller? I'm counting on this to be correct info since I don't have alot of money and I want to keep it simple.
