Passing Emissions

I live in NY and my FD has never passed emissions. When I first got it 6 years ago it was bone stock and still did not pass NY emissions. I am now building it up to be a high HP machine. Is there any way to have the car pass emissions in the over 400hp range. Remember it only needs to pass emissions for one day

Thanks in advance

Why didn't it pass emissions when it was bone stock? I'd start there.

I don't know. I replaced the cat and the spark plugs, still didn't pass. After a while I found a place where I could get a passing grade without actually passing and didn't worry about it. I know there are people out there who have big horsepower cars that only pass emissions 1 day a year. I'm just wondering what they do to their cars that one day.

I'm assuming they either put some stock parts on it, or they know people and they use someone else's car to pass emission testing instead of their own.

What I would guess is they have to maintain their air pump and emissions systems, then the day of the test they trow on their original exhaust and drop their boost to 0. That way they don't have much power + air going to their exhaust + their cat. I really wish that one of these one day wonders would chime in to give us their info.

i may or may not have all my emissions equipment removed. I may or may not have my air pump running straight to my cat. . . hard to say really.

Mine passed fine 2 years ago in stock form without precat. Now i've got some bolt ons and I have to go again in the spring. Will be putting the stock main cat back in and I should still be fine as the air pump is still there and everything works. It's not a 400hp monster though.

Passing VA emissions with Flying Colors.
I have a Downpipe, Cat-Back, intake. I retained the pump and cat.
For 2 years. Its perfect.

Now, i took the cat out and put on a resonated midpipe from rx7store.net... which btw is a perfect fit!

Im passed Tx emissions with a Bonex hi-flow cat and no airpump last week. Tech "tweaked" test which helped quite a bit.
