Passenger side window

Damint,

Took my car to the carwash on Friday and the passenger window does not work anymore (no motor sound). I am assuming that the system shorted out from being wet. The fuses I checked did not look burned out (i checked the ones under the dash) - but I think that fuse controls both windows (driver side works fine). Anyone had a similar problem? I am hoping that there might be some exposed wiring or something - I hope I do no need to get a new window motor.

Anyone have any suggestions before I have this thing replace?

M

make sure you check that the window "lock" on the drivers side is off. As stupid as that may sound...I though my passenger window motor was toast until I thought to check the switch. :P

I would advise any car owner to NEVER take their car through a car wash and especially not if it does an underbody wash. I have countless stories where some of my friends or relatives have had something crap out on their car because something shorted out due to the high-intensity washing of the underbody of their car. Washing your car yourself is very rewarding anyway, so get out there and pamper your baby with your own two hands!

Does the window work when you use the driver switch? My passenger switch failed but I was able to revive it with some WD40. Also, have you tried pulling on the window a bit while raising it? Try popping the passenger switch to see if the short is there. If not, you may have to take the door panel apart. There was a thread last week detailing all the screws holding the door panel.

I'd give power directly to the power window motor first. Right there will give you an andication if the motor is shot or if it is something deeper within the wiring harness.
