optinal armrest question

just wondering how you guys put in the optional armrest in your ashtray slots.
for those who just bought the real mazda ones from daioni
i got mine in the mail today(brand spankin new oem mazda) it wouldnt fit in the ashtray location because the armrest bin is a bit too deep.
so i need to cut out the bottom of the shifter panel to make space for the armrest
kinda unusual question..but just wandted to see what people did to make it fit

Mine just dropped right in.. Weird that you had to cut away to fit it.

Opens from the passenger side because I am JDM y0. I am still surprised it did not just drop in.

well after GB them and selling over 50 of them I would say your the VERY first to have this problem, weird..

Any pictures of your spot where it goes, along with how your installing it meaning the door. It is a tight fit, and you might have to go for or aft with it, but hummmm

Actually, they don't fit perfect in a LHD. They were made for the contour of a RHD shifter panel, so they have to be made to fit.

well, i guess its not supposed to go "all the way" my armrest seems to pop up a bit on the left which is a RHD's passenger side. maybe hdp is right, it fits, but not perfectly.
im happy with the little raised side. no harm done and it keeps in while i open the bin
thaks for all the help guys

Mine fits about 97% perfectly. It sits fairly flush, but has that ever-so slight fitment issue becasue it was designed for the LHD models.

But overall, it makes driving the car so much more enjoyable and actually makes good use of that storage space!!! A must-do mod

i got it to fit...happy enough
no need for it to be PERFECT
it might be a bid spaced on the other side since the lid needs to open all the way

^What he said. I love mine too. The only thing I did was to drill three small holes in the forward end to vent and allow light in from the old ashtray light.

Wow! I had ZERO problems with it, and it fits perfectly. After I put it in, I just opened up the lid and pushed down around where it should seat. Fit no problem.

should be a perfect fit - or at least very very close to it. They are a little tricky to pop in - so don't give up too quickly.

I might do another GB soon if enough people are interested (they are direct from mazda japan - not copies).

How much did they sell for in the last group buy? I'd be down for another if the price is right!

they are US$85 (though the next one will be strictly paypal in yen) - that's delivered to your door in 3-6 days via tracked ems. I haven't seen copies for that cheap! Individually, they would be a fair bit more - but GB makes it worthwhile for me

this is the view from the passenger side - you can see that it is slightly raised - this is due to the hinge (otherwise it wouldn't open!)

(btw JT - the price from mazda has gone up about 1000yen)

Ehh, I don't keep my hand on the shifter too long though. I'm too cautious with my FD, got to keep both hands on the wheel. Haha.
