Opinions please...

Ok, I am very close to buying a 94 TE w/only 55k miles. But, my real question here is... does it make sense to buy a TE if im going to mod it? I'm paying more for things like leather seats, when I want to change the seats eventioully? What do you guys think?

Tough to say. I have a 93 Touring, and I love the amenities that it came with, but I was looking specifically for a Touring model. I'm not sure that you will pay much more for a Touring than you will a base model, since Touring or PEP/PEG models are more readily available, and the R1/R2 packages appear to be the most expensive. If the car is clean, low mileage, and well cared for, I'd buy it, since you are better off starting your mods on a good running, well maintained car. Just my .02. Good luck

Well when and if i do get an FD it would prolly be a touring....I mean i understand its not supposed to be a luxury car or anything but leather seats are nice plus i like sunroof's too....BTW If you find an FD thats in good shape and is at a reasonable price buy it! Dont worry if its a touring/Base/Or R1-R2...Its the same thing minus a few extra's.

As the others have said, it really depends on what you want. The main reason to get a Touring would be for the sunroof.

Keep in mind, that with a sunroof, you actually "lose" some head room. If you are tall and plan to race the car (where you need a helmet), that might be a concern. You'll have move headroom with an FD that doesn't have a sun/moon roof.

I also have a Touring and love it. I couldn't imagine having the car and not having a sunroof.

I've got a touring as well. I deal with the extra weight because the options are "nice" to have. ie sunroof, etc.

My suspension was replaced by TEIN's so they are better than R1/R2 now. I don't plan anything but light track use so the single oil cooler should be fine. I also replaced my front bumper and put a '99spec wing on, so those R1/R2 items have been replaced as part of my "packaging" anyways.

I'd take any clean one in good condition I could find at a decent price, I'm just looking for one with a black interior (why is the tan leather so popular?!). Recaro seats will indeed be in it's future anyway.
