Thumbs up Opinions on oil cooler?

is the stock oil cooler sufficient or should i go for an after market if so what do u think about - Aluminum Lightweight High Performance Oil Cooler with 19 Rows ,10" x 5 1/2" x 2" Core an Overall measurements 11 1/4" x 5 1/2" x 2" , has -10AN fittings (Inlet/Outlet). or any recommandations beside the rotary extreme which is rediculously price or the dual oil cooler setup which is also pricy

The stock oil cooler is sufficient for street use. You might want to consider changing to the dual coolers like on the R1 model if you are going to race the car at the track.

If you knew what the cost of the parts in RE's kit was, you would not make that statement.

This topic has come up a couple of times fairly recently...please use the search function -- you can use the terms "oil cooler" and my username.

maybe you should search around and price things out and get back to us.

I'm curious what's out there....that's in your reasonable price range.

maybe xspower also makes oilcooler kits

First, you did not state your intended use. Like a previous poster noted, for street driving your factory cooler is perfectly sufficient.

If you track your car and drive it seriously you do need some good cooling. I did fine with my R1 dual oil cooler setup even in hot CA days on the track. When I wanted and needed even more oil cooling in race cars I preferred the Setrab brand oil coolers for both engine and transmission cooling. They are considered among the best in the racing circles.

From you dimensions it is really not possible to make recommendations. Construction is very important and I would not try to save money on your oil supply components, particularly when runing high racing pressures. Select the best in oil coolers or, pay the price later.

Yep!!! If you are not road racing, don't waste your money on upgrading.

That right there says the stock one is probably fine, as long as you actually don't run it much. Why not check your oil temps before upgrading, that will be your real answer.

IMO, an unducted 19-row is not going to cool much better than the ducted stockers (in good condition). To me, it would be a big waste of money to go through the cost and effort of upgrading the single stock cooler to a single aftermarket cooler -- you have to buy all new lines, a t-stat, fittings, make brackets, plan out hose routing, etc. Not worth it, especially for your use.

Why do you feel you might need more cooling? What are your temperatures now?

Just a little testimonial for the stock duels…they are plug and play, sufficient for anything it sound like you are going to do, and come with the correct ducting, which is the most important part of the puzzle IMO.

Look for a nice set of stockers, and I promise you will be sufficiently happy.

Speaking of ducting for the stock dual oil coolers, what is the solution for ducting them with the 99 front bumper?

I run the stock dual oil coolers with the 99 front bumper and I duct them with RE 99 oil cooler ducts. I also run the 99 fogs, so I should of modified my stock ducts, because I had to cut up my new 99 ducts to fit the brackets of the foglights ...oh well I made it work...

As long as it's not the old crooked willow self destructing kit, any should be fine. Rich suggested the Gotham ones, which are the lowest price. Fluidynes are a grand. RE is 1200 and 1400 from what I recall.
