Which RX-7 is this?

Sorry if this topic may seem out of place and not very technical, but I've come across a 3rd Gen Rx-7 on my way home from a store once and saw an unusual looking Rx-7 in the side-mirror. It did not look like any ordinary 3rd Gen since I saw the fog lights weren't the same as others I've seen in the past, I thought it may have been aftermarket. A few days later a saw my friend playing Gran Turismo on his Playstation and saw that Rx-7 again, he said it was an Aspec model. Can anyone tell me which Rx-7 I saw that day and provide me with some information on it's specs, whether it may be different from regular 3rd Gens.

Here are some images I've managed to find on the internet. Sorry if the first one seems cartoony, but its a clean rendition of it.

Thank you in advance for your reply.

^^^^^^These are regular RX-7's (depending on which trim you originally got, R1, R2, ect.) with bodykits. Black, red and yellow, obviously have the same body kit made by Mazdaspeed. Blue is also Mazdaspeed kit but GTC version.

So the foglights also come with the body kit? Is this an option when they were released or you would have to purchase them directly from Mazdaspeed and install it on your own?

Can anyone post a link to a site that has more info on the A spec? It would be very much appreciated

lol really? That's what I like about it as opposed to the standard FDs.

Also, could anyone give me a ball-park year that those large foglight A specs were out for?

Miki01, you'll find that there are a lot of members on here that do not like bodykits. Most people here like stock looking FDs. However, there are also several members here with totally tricked out FDs. I myself am a fan of whatever appeals to me so I like a bunch of different looking FDs. Of the pics you posted above, I prefer the GTC kit over the other. Don't be shocked though if you go out and purchase a $4,000 bodykit and post pics of it here and get flamed by a bunch of haters...they're all good people ...some just love to hate on different people's taste. Good luck to ya.

seven lust - thanks I'll check it out

Edit: Just visited CorkSport, and yep, they've got the Mazdaspeed body kit labeled "MAZDASPEED Front nose for Aero kit type II"

hus - that's alright, everyone's got different tastes. For me, the A spec FD appeals more than one with a stock look, but aswell, In my tastes in an FC, it's got to be stock looking. The FC looks like an intelligent-looking car stock, after body kitted, it looks as if its lost a bit of its intelligence.
