I was just wondering if the patch i made would work. We broke of the end when putting the lines on. We just used a rubber splice and clamped both ends. I actually didn't feel compfortable with it after all so i bought some SS lines. I'm just curious if i saved my engine from another rebuild.

 

How long did you drive it like that?

 

I just did that 2 days ago. I just got done rebuilding the engine and when i was putting all of the parts back on before dropping it it, i broke the line where it connects to the nipple.

I don't think it should be a problem, it does'nt look like any oil is leaking from the connections at all, so there should be oil injecting in the housing. I had the same problem and ended up buying a ss set from rx7.com.

 

If you're really concerned, just use premix in your gas until you can throw the SS lines on there.

 

I still can't believe that people would risk a new engine over a friggin' $20 part.

 

I agree with Rynberg. Fix the part while you have the chance. Don't take the chance...

As I said before, I didn't feel comfortable with it after i spliced it so i ordered new SS lines. The line broke Saturday when assembling the motor. I tried splicing it first just to give it a try. The hose was not like this before the rebuild.

 

Then what's the point of starting a thread? You asked if it would work or not and some of us have expressed the idea that it would be a ****-poor idea. I don't get what your problem is???
