Old vac lines suck.

I'm in the process of doing my vac hose job/ some what simplifcation. All i have to say is CHANGE YOUR VAC LINES PEOPLE. If you haven't already. These things suck once they get hard, cause they lock around the nipples on the silinodes and starts destroy **** real easily even if you take your time. I broke 3 of mine but I can read and understand schematics really well so I figured out what I need to make the acv still work well enough not to fry my air pump. Other than that I just did the simplication and by-passed the coolant lines on the intake( I hope their not needed for anthing but keeping the engine warmer in cold weather). When I get my PFC I'll go back and do the full simpflication with block off plates and mp. I barely drive the car so its just my play toy( I think that applies to 85% of us). Next is the clutch...

The TB coolant lines operate the cold idle cam. The cold idle cam raises the idle when the coolant is cold.

A few leak will cause the rubber hoses to harden much sooner than normal. If your FPD (Fuel Pulsation Dampener, ~$100) is still original, then you should consider replacing that as well. If you sometimes smell fuel after turning off your car or while sitting in traffic, then you should definitely change it.

If your fuel or coolant lines aren't very flexible, then you can change those as well.

You can also get new o-rings for your fuel injectors while you are down there. If you want to go all-out, then you can send out the injectors to be professionally cleaned and flowbalanced.

If you pull the rat's nest, then you'll have easy access to the coolant thermoswitch. Some user's swap in a Miata thermoswitch (of a specific year, but I forget which one), which will turn the radiator fans on much sooner than the stock one.

If I adjust the screw, will it work properly? And does the block off kit remove this later?

If you remove the TB coolant lines, then you will need to block it off.
