Question Okada Projects "Plasma" Ignition...

http://www.okadaprojects.com/usa/home.htm

I came accross an article about this in a Magazine (I know I know, don't hate me.)

It looked interesting, because Ignition is a important part of engine performance.

I just wanted to open this topic and collect educated opinions.

Thanks

I don't see anything special about their amp. As for the price, you can buy the Jacobs FC1000 for $150 from Jegs so their price is not all that great. It would be nice if they had an FD specific application for their coils.

Looks like they only have the booster, not the coils for the FD. Dang, looks like Mahjik beat me to the punch

A solution to a problem that doesn't exist IMHO.

half price and 5x more spark.

I'm not sure if that is better though.

Like I stated, I'm still learning.

How do we know if it's 5x more spark than the Twin Power?

I'd really like to know more about this, as I'm close to purchasing a Twin Power for my FC.

Twin power is the what I was going to go with, but this looks very interesting.

Here is the original article that I was reading, where it states that it uses 10 sparks, where the twin power is a double spark module (I think it is the unknow aftermarket Module that they show a graph of) But that is just me thinking, I'd love to see some rock solid info on this from the rotary community.

I have read that the twin power uses a 2 spark method of ignition, the Okada uses 10.

I figured the rest in my head...

It does not state anything about HKS Twin Power in this article, that was purly an assumption.

HKS is a restrike amp. The amp doesn't tell the coils to fire, the ECU does. However, "how strong the spark is" is what the amp's are suppose to help. The other thing to be careful of is how much the amp is intensifying the spark. Too much and it will fry the stock coils.

I know MSD boxes will only give multiple sparks at low RPM levels. Once the engine starts to increase in RPM it will just give one big solid spark for about 20 degrees crankshaft rotation (On a piston motor, not sure if its the same on a rotary?) since there is not enough time for the multiple sparks.

I really dont know how the HKS or this new unit works or what there output levels are. They may not even give multiple sparks on the bottom end and just amplify the factory coils.

How can you get one big spark for 20 degrees of rotation ? I am running the AEM amp with 4 Jacobs c4 coils .The AEM box that was failing .I have been bata testing them for AEM .The last several have been great, but the newest is not in production as of yet . The last one has been in use for about a year maybe less .No filed plugs no failed coils no high speed ,high boost misfire .
