I just got an oil temp gauge on my car for the first time. Sensor is temp located in the stock position.

What kind of temp range should I be seeing with OIL?

What is warmed up, and what is the absolute max temp?

My sensor is located at the oil filter base. It takes a while to read (above 100deg) but once it does the temps go between 130 - 190 while the water temp goes between 180-220

 

My sensor is located in the oil pan drain plug. I have seen oil temps exceed 230 degrees on a warm day while stuck in traffic. Bill's R2 has 2 oil coolers, so it should have cooler temps than my car with only one oil cooler.

 

You do not want to sustain oil temps over 275 degrees F for extended periods.

 

mine range from 200f to 230f

 

I have dual oil coolers and it runs @ 210F at it's hottest.
