sequential turbos question. i searched hard on this

well. let me explain first im been in the rx7's for 10+years now i had both 1st and 2nd gen but now i have a little project in my hands that im planning to put a FD engine on a FC body. im asking here because im planning to keep the sequential turbos on the motor and i been reading alot about 3rd gen cars and i see that you cant eliminate the rat nest, but my question is i cant get rid of it at all or i can parcially eliminate the rat nest? like what solenoids i can get rid of? im not have to worry about passing inspection because my car is over 10 years and i dont have to worry about it too much about emissions ****. and i have usdm motor so the EGR can go right? plus im installing a power FC because seems to work better with the 3rd gen sensors. i need some imputs. im been searching alot but not all my questions have been answer yet

thanks

eddie

Basically you're looking for information on turbo system simplification.

Rob Robinette's site had a pretty decent write up:
http://www.rx7.org/Robinette/turbo_s...lification.htm

There's also tons of info on this forum if you search for simplification. The basic gist is that there are 4 main solenoids controlling the turbo transition, 2 more control the boost (wastegate and precontrol). The rest are emissions or "extra" systems and can be removed if desired.

I have a 1985 GSL-SE with a stock 1994 fd motor and auto trans sitting in place .I plan to do the simplification on it .I still have the plate with the resistors mounted to it that I used on my 94 before I got the PFC . The SE will match my FD ,both silver with red interior .

I did the sequential simplification and now have a box of parts that weighs probably 15 pounds not including the air pump. Amazing how much stuff under there can go away!
