Oil pressure sensor

Hey everyone,

My oil pressure gauge is reading dangerously low, but it's been kinda jumpy and weird. After some research, it seems that the sensors are a common problem with our cars.

Unfortunately, I went to Mazda here in town, and they quoted me over $200 for the sensor. Auto parts stores around here are quoting about $150 for a non-OEM one.

For that price, it'd probably just be cheaper and easier to go with an aftermarket gauge/sensor set-up.

Here's my question;

Are they really that expensive everywhere? Is there anywhere else I can one for a reasonable price?

Thanks,

Devan

I've cleaned the connector, it seems to have helped somewhat.

Is it possible/recommended to clean the actual sensor? How messy/difficult is it to remove?

The sender should be more like $90 last I checked. Just replace it. 17mm open ended wrench will do it. You won't get any significant oil leaking out as it leaks down from the area after you shut down. However, I've replaced the sender and still had the stock gauges give me bogus readings so I would also invest in a quality aftermarket oil pressure gauge.

yeah, I was looking into the aftermarket route.

I've got Defi boost, temp and oil temp gauges already, and I'd like to keep them all the same, but I haven't found a defi oil pressure gague that reads high enough.

In fact, I haven't been able to find ANY oil pressure gauge set-ups that read high enough.

Anybody know of any good ones?
