oil pressure light

search not working....

so tonight took the FD out for the weekly drive...noticed the oil pressure light was on...for like 3 seconds when the oil pressure was pretty high, maybe 3/4 up. then it turned off and never turned out again...so what does the light indicate? anything i should be worried about?

thanks

How long is "a while"?

1600 miles and my oil's black. Changing this weekend, in the rain. I guess 1000 miles really isn't crazy...

Yeah, the only reason I asked is that I killed my FC motor that way. Old oil leads to carbon lock, and our cars make oil old REAL damn quick.

I'm not exactly sure...

But I think in the owners manual it says that the light comes on for low oil AND when the pressure goes too high...

I had both happen when I first got my car...
the oil light would come on and off when the oil was too low...most often it would switch "on" on a hard corner...

The other time I didn't have the car warmed up, new oil change and I started boosting and noticed the pressure guage toward the 120 mark and the light came on...well I don't do that anyMORE!!

Anyways, I will look at the owners manual tomorrow and double check

Shame on you! You know you should check it at least every 500 miles....

BTW, how do you only put 500 miles/month on your car? I can't seem to manage less than a 1000.....

ok, downloaded the 93 manual (i have 94 but should be the same i assume). it is indeed the low oil level warning, not low/high pressure. so question now is why does it come on for only a minute or so then go off? is this just saying i'm starting to have low oil, and eventually it'll light up all the time? before anybody says check your oil, i will tomorrow when there's some light out. just curious. thanks.

oh, rynberg, i only drive it once or twice a week at most, that's why i'm averaging like 500 miles a month :-)
