Oil pres..

Ok well my car is almost running right i think, and i could really use some help again. At idle the oil presure is at 120, but it was at 60 when it was driving the car befre this month. What could be causeing the oil presure to be so high. I dont get it? Its full of oil and it dose have some strip bolts on the oil pan that i tighten to hard, that i am about to fix, cause it is leaking oil. But i still have the 120 oil presure, got any idea beside the OPR. Cause i am faily sure if it was a new one when i put my motor back togeather. Thanks Marc

i though that was the oil level sensor, i would think the oil preasure sensor would be somewhere that oil flows and doesnt just sit. Just a thought

The oil pressure sender is under the oil filter (which is why it usually get dirty from oil dripping and dust).

It round. About 2 inches in diameter. It has a rubber grip. It screws onto the block, near the coolant temp sensor. Sorta below the oil fiter, above and to the right of the spark plugs.

Clean it first and see if that helps. If not, replace it.

My oil pressure went from almost not registering to 120 cold and a little above 60 warm when I switched from 10W30 to 20W50.

this also sounds like a dirty/bad sensor - I run 10w-30 all the time and get over 60 psi at idle cold and 60psi at 2000rpm hot
