oil pedestal oil leak help!

i've been uninstalling and reinstalling my oil pedestal about 4 or 5 times now with the ReSpeed oil pedestal, and every time i do it, oil leaks around the edges.

i am in no way saying that the ReSpeed oil pedestal is defective, Billy has been more than helpful to me (he even sent me a new oil pedestal just to be sure it wasn't the pedestas fault).

i am using new o-rings and when i uninstall it (after a leaky install attempt) the o-rings are semi-stuck to their correct positions on the pedestal. i tighten the pedestal down, then tighten the big oil hose w/ banjo bolt, then screw on the filter. On my last attempt I even used a very thin layer of hondabond and let it cure for around 35 hours and it still leaks...i'm all out of ideas, has anyone tried something different before?

I know at least with FC oil filter pedastals that you can put them on backwards - the holes don't line up, and you get a big leak. But, I think with the FD pedastal that isn't possible due to the oil cooler line hookup.

Do you have 2 good copper crush washers on either side of the banjo bolt?

Hmm, i reused the washers, but I want to say that the leak is not coming from the big oil line, but from the o-rings...i don't know why im so convinced that its the o-rings i'll double check the oil line

thanks for the input

Make sure the studs are threaded down all the way. If not the nuts won't thread down far enough and you won't get it tight. Just one side off a couple of threads and bam you have a leak. I have the same oil pedistal.

My pedisatl came with new rubber orings, but mine required the removal of the stock oil pedistal studs and reusing them in the new pedistal.

This happened to me too. The leak was so bad that it pissed out oil like it was a massive hole. We fixed it by putting RTV sealant around the Orings and CAREFULLY setting it in place before bolting it back on......

Good Luck!

I didn't have any issues with mine. I did buy a cheap wrench and cut it in half so I could get it in there to tighten it. I had mine on for a few months with no leaks.

I'm also having issues w/ leaks around the o-rings / bottom of my RE Speed oil filter pedestal. I've even tried new O-rings that are 13/16x5/8x3/32 #12 . I'm going to try some RTV next and hopefully that will work. I don't have any leaks with the stock pedestal either.

I finally got around to fixing this!!! I had to use some permatex ultra black gasket sealer around the o-rings.
