Even a stubby combination wrench will work.

I had to pull the motor in the FB to do it. Stripped mine, and had a flywheel and clutch to install for motivation. Taking off the oil filter seemed to help me get at it, if only I hadn't stripped it already.

the stubby gear wrench was the trick...now did you guys pull the studs out of the stock pedestal and install in the new one?

take your two nuts and thread them onto the bolt and tighten them against each other. Then take your socket and turn the top nut which will turn the bolt out.

Once out, take a wrench and socket and "loosen" the nuts to release them from the bolt.

no no...sorry I wasnt clear...I know the "two nut trick"! The stock pedestal has studs in it, whereas the new RE speed pedestal is threaded as well, but didnt come with studs in it (or any hardware for that matter)....I used my stud puller to remove them from the old unit and they went in perfectly to the new one. I hadnt removed the studs out of the old pedestal before I posted and I was simply asking if thats the route others have taken Thanks for the prompt reply.
