auto meter vs greddy boost gauge

does anyone have any info on the 52mm auto meter vs the greddy 52mm boost gauge ? iam looking for a boost gauge. and where do you mount yours? i hear and have seen if you a dubble pillar you seem to hit it with your hands under hard corners..the auto meter with pod is 84.00 and the greddy is 180 with pod

Autometer is known to be imprecise on PSI readings, don't know about Greddy though.

Let's just say between these two gauges, you get what you pay for.

My Autometer boost gauge is broken and was only used 15 or so times. Installed behind the steering wheel.

Luckly it came unistalled with car and I didn't pay for it.

Just buy the good gauge and be done with it. Afterall, you didn't get this car to be cheap.

Not a fan of Autometer gauges. Everyone has their tastes, but the Japanese gauges are SO much better built and better looking to start with. Accuracy is another issue here.

Here's my comparison -

I would look into one of the dash gauge pods. VERY nice way to go. A-pillars are a little hokey. Here's my review of the Tripower -

I would put my Nexus gauges against any of the JDM gauges. The are a step above anything else out right now. I also never had a problem with my Autometer gauges (Sport Comp) which I ran for over 5 years without a single problem.

nexus does have a few new ideas that may be useful. but some of it is just clutter as well.

i dunno about quality wise, but they do have a lot of cool features with the nexus line, but those are more pricey, some even more expensive than the greddy gauges, up into the realm of defi ooooo-oo-ooo ... its hit and miss with the cheaper autometers, i had sport comps for a few years in one of my projects and they worked fine as well, but i watched a bunch of friends go through gauge after gauge after gauge, the sport comps are "supposedly" one of the better lines for the cheap autometers though, which might account for that...

i agree with what was said above, if you are buying an FD you shouldn't be allowed to cheap out, personally when my funds allow for it i will be doing a full defi BF setup with the control unit, but thats looking like it will be $1000+ in gauges :ouch: so it wont be happening anytime soon, maybe i'll just start out with a boost/temp gauge and get the rest later...

Greddy discontinued their gauges. So, unless you find a used one that answers your question for that company.

Tried to buy the old gauge and got redirected to the new gauge. It matches pretty close to perfect. And, now that I read my post it sounds pretty stupid the point is they didnt discontinue 52mm gauges just the green color.

i started with pos autometer i goft for free from some guy in my command. (f**n ordies) ( and im an AT for all you navy types so im allowed to talk ****. lol). he had an eclipse, seller told him it was turbo..dumbass believed him...long story short it was a pos. both car and gauge. it too was 2 lbs off.. But i went to summit and ordered two sportcomp gauges * of the boost and water temp variety* and havent looked back since..picked up the double bubble pillar mount from rx7 store. enjoy every second of it!!! but hey dont take my word for it. :big ok:

Black face, white numbers, red backlighting so the numbers are red when the lights are on. I got it from gotham racing and they were spectacular to deal with. I also got my greddy type S boost controller from them because they were so cool and Im working on getting it dialed in.

According to a person here who owns a shop, and 2 different internet companies completely unrelated to FDs that couldn't fill the order for a 52 mm boost and fuel pressure gauge...they are discontinued.

AFAIK theyre wrong.

Sorry for the crappy picture. My crappy camera will not produce better. I can tweak the picture to make it show better but I didnt want to mess with the color so you guys could see how well it matched.
