Oil Pan Gasket

HOw hard is it... ive done it on piston engines before.. i dont think it should be so hard... the dealership wanted 500 bux to do this.... i mean the gasket shouldnt be that expensive maybe 50 bux @ the most... labor is just drain the oil, undo the pan... drop the pan... clean it and the old gasket off... place new one on and rescrew in the gasket correct?

the oil pan gasket is a recal you arent supposed to use it

Use a filler and let it dry for about a day after the oil has been drained totally

I dont think they will do it for you for free. Its pretty easy, take off the engine mounts, support the engine/tranny and the oil pan is held in with 10 mm bolts. I recommend using the permatex grey, dont use the other colors. If you notice all the other ones smell like acid, but this one smells and looks and works just like Honda Bond, which is like $10 a tube. Make sure you use a lot of this ****. One tube should be enough. And it would be a good idea if you let it sit after you assemble it before you put in the oil or run the engine.

i talked to a mechanic at m2 performance (kyle) and he said that the OEM oil pan gasket is why the oil pan leaks. he said that at the shop they just use silicon and put it around the edge of the gasket for a better seal. there is no need to buy a new gasket as long as it is in one piece.

Garfinkle has done several ,he removes the lower sub frame . he said do not use the gasket only sealer, he uses honda bond and lets it dry or cure for three days .if the customer can leave the car three days he will not do the job ,no returns so .The masda sealer cost to much ,

You take the pan out, clean it up, and put silicone/honda bond/rtv or whatever where the gasket would normally go.
