oil metering pump working?

hey. I was just lookin under the uim and i noticed that there was no movement in the clear oil metering lines. the lines were always full before my non-seq conversion, but now they are empty, with a littel bit of oil here and there, and no movement. im no expert on the OMP, but that doesn't seem to be right

There should be oil in the lines you have a problem,,,,this may be a small problem or something bigger,, let me explain,,

I once lifted my upper intake manifold and found 1 pipe without oil and got really worried,,, but i noticed the car had been stood overnight,,, once i re-installed the manifold and started the car i watched the pipe and noticed the oil started to travel back up the pipe,, so ok the oil metering pump was working ok

Upon reading and asking questions i found the answer to be the check valves built into the injector nozzles,,, imagine a straw suking up water then placing your thump over the top--- the water will stay in the pipes. So basically the rubber valves had failed with age (basically it meant my car wasnt receiving oil for the first 20 seconds of start up)

you may want to check both your pipes like this,,,by running the car and watching,,,,If you dont see any oil travel up the pipes you have a different problem (i replaced both oil injectors new from mazda,,,now everything is fine),, test out my theory and let me know

I agree with this. If you replace the nozzles, make sure you search, as there apparently are two types.

i'll test that. im readint he FSM on it, lots of **** to check with that also.

If it's the nozzles, i heard the 99+ spec ones are better and allow a better flow of oil, or somethign rather its been a while since i read about it.

how do you replace them, do they just screw out?

Yes, with the proper wrench. I believe it is a 14 mm but extra thin from normal. Be careful with the oil line banjo fitting that attaches on the nozzles as you do not want to snap or damage an oil line. Once damaged they need to be entirely replaced. They hold the oil by vacuum pressure after all, and they will leak like crazy when the pump is operating.

I just replaced the injector nozzels on my 13B rew rebuild. The nozzels are different. I don't believe they are not as good. Some of the holes are smaller, but if you have ever checked a rotor housing were they screw in the meter jet in it is supper small. I tried to get an idea of how small and I couldn't get a single strand of fine copper wire to pass through the hole. I did blow air from the compressor through it to be sure it was clear and it was. This makes the issue of the old verses new valves just a that a difference. They opperate in the same mannor.

man im so ******* confused.

tiger 18: i did your test. after 5 mintues still no movement in the oil lines. nothing, not even after 30 minutes of driving...****. also ISNT the turbo inlet supposed to have vacuum at all times??? i had the vacuum line for the injector nozzles routed to the primary turbo inlet. also i had the PVC connected to it with a catch tank. the catch tank never really got anything in it. i rerouted both with a T to the Blow off valve vacuum nipple on the UIM. the catch can was getting oil for the first time.

i hooked a vacuum pump up to the injector hoses. it wont hold any vacuum. and also trioed to pump air and i could hear it come out of somewhere. i have a feelign that's no good either. wasnt leaking from the vac hoses themselves, but from somewhere behind the alternator it seemed. or jsut to the left of it perhaps.

man im so stumped.

hahahahah, man either i fixed it or it wasn never fucke dup to begin with. so now the lines look full. but i have a feeling i just looked like there were ait bubbles because the lines were slightly scratched and i looke dat them in the sunlight and i think since the scratches made the plastic white it made it look like there were air pockets in the oil line. no wonder it's looked the same and never moved...wow..TEQUILLA!. but i did find otu that the vacuum hose for the front oil injector had a slit in it and fixed that...

somebody sell me an smic and shocks and Apexi PFC w/Commander and greddy elbow/piping and anythinh else please! lol woo
