0-0-10 boost FIXED!

Six weeks ago I bought a 95 w/ 53K in great shape with a new reman and silicone hose job. Car ran well and looks great but was getting almost no boost before 4500 rpm. Some of the larger vacuum hoses were breaking down and many smaller ones were loose so I did a hose job with viton. Check out this thread about the Viton if you want:

https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...5&pagenumber=5

I fixed several vacuum leaks on the process and studied hundreds of threads on the Forum to check for misconnected lines and to learn how to test solenoids and actuators, but when I got it back together I still had the same problem. I was only getting about 3 in. of vacuum on the line to the CCA at idle. In the KOKO test there was not enough vacuum to pull in the actuator arm. I went in again and tried to find the vacuum leak by closing lines attached to the vacuum chamber one at a time and testing with a vacuum pump with key on. Turns out that the lines from the rats nest to the Wastegate
Control and Turbo Precontrol solenoids were switched. I guess I was really careful about routing the lines in the rats nest by the diagrams, but copied the hoses that were already there for some of the less complicated places. Stupid!

I got the pieces back together and my boost is suddenly perfect. 10(sometimes 11)-8-10 sometimes with a taper down to 9 starting above 6.5K. The car runs GREAT! Boost spools very quickly and response is teriffic. What a fantastic machine.

Anyway, I wanted to thank the guys that posted so much great stuff. Especially the ones that ACTUALLY posted the answer to their problem when they found it. Really helped me find the solution to my boost issues and survive the hose job and FPD replacement.

Its spring. I'm ready to DRIVE!

Tom

Great job Tom. Consider yourself a seasoned FD owner.

Seriously...you did very, very well. Most will either take it to to a specialist, go non-sequential, or just give up on the twins and go single. Many of the folks that never go back to sequential have only negative things to say about the stock setup, when the reality of the situation is that they gave up (much easier to blame the stock setup than to admit defeat). Not trying to start a flame war. My point is merely that you had persistence and it has paid off. My hat's off to you.
