Oil level sensor leak?

Has anyone had the sealer crack where the wire for the oil level sensor comes out of the oil pan and leak? I just took mine off and noticed the orangish sealant around the wire was cracked all the way around.

my wire has broke off the unit but never leaked. I did have a leak on one of the bolts that hold it in and used some lock tight and now its clean and dry.

I don't remember if there's an "o" ring there or not. If there is'nt, just apply silicone sealant around the inner edge and put it back in.

O.k, I just took a look at one and now I know what you're talking about. Not sure if you can fix that. I have an extra if you decide to replace.

Take the sensor out of the oil pan, clean out all of the old material in the ring where the wire is located being careful not to break off the wire. Once you have it cleaned out, take JB Weld and fill in the ring completely. If thewire is weak or it has broken off, then solder it back together before you apply the JB Weld. Then encase it in the JB Weld to make a nice solid anchor for the wire.

I just cleaned it real good and stuck some right stuff on it, if it was leaking...it shouldn't anymore. Maybe I should take those bolts back out and apply some sealant to them.

There definitely is supposed to be an o-ring on the oil level sensor. If you look at the FSM or the Parts Catalogue, you'll see it. If you were to order a new oil leve sensor from Malloy ($93) it would come with a new o-ring.

I just got a new o-ring for it. I had gasket maker on it before....that stuff gets everywhere though. I wasn't sure if the bolts for that go through to the inside of the oil pan, but I'm gonna say they probably don't....it wouldn't make any sense to.
