Fram filters are no good imo, I've read several cases about them failing in one way or another. I use a K&N.

Yep, greddy filters are walmart supertech filters with fancy paint. With how frequently people change their oil on this forum, you don't need the highest quality filter available anyways. Those are more beneficial for cars running modern synthetics and going 10k-15k miles on their OCI's.

Yep, they have some smart fellas on there. A number of the members are employed by major oil manufacturers.

When you see the inside of a fram filter its just pitiful cardboard and not much else. There racing filters are better but the stock filters suck. Wix

Atkins are a little different on the outside from OEM, if you compare they look slightly different. I cant say for certain about the insides. I have used them before and would recommend. What I wouldn't use is Fram or any of their re-brands (Pennzoil I know is one)

I have used and liked are Purolater, Atkins, and Mazda. All of these give me the same oil pressure readings. The couple times I tried a Fram my oil pressure went through the roof and I am confident it is because the filter couldn't flow enough.

Just get supertech at walmart. I use them all the time. Nearly all oil filter technology is the same. It's honestly a labeling war out there. I use the supertechs and change my oil every 1k. Be smart and save money on filter/oil and be even smarter by changing often!

They say to change your oil every 3k miles OR 3 months, whichever comes first.

If you do 800 miles in 3 months, that just shows you do alot of city driving and changing your oil is recommended. Its not mandatory but it couldnt hurt to do.

There was one time last year when i only did 100 miles in 3 months and i changed it anyway. That was due to alot of short trips, driving the car once a week at most times and warming up the car when i couldnt even drive it (bad weather and lots of cars blocking me).

Theres no right or wrong in changing your oil religiously. It might be a waste of time and money to some people but to me, its really cheap, easy and a car will always love fresh oil.
