oil feed line question

is 6an too big to use as an oil feed line? I have some extra line and fittings from my fuel setup so it's much more convenient even though line that big probably isn't required.

Also what are the thread specs of the hole where the banjo bolt from the stock hard feed line goes?

thanks

6AN will work but it's much bigger than required.

The front cover banjo is 14x1.5mm

yes it will... do not go bigger... i have a single turbo and use a -4an fitting. if you go any bigger, you get oil blow-by. thats when oil escapes out of your seals and into the turbine (or exhaust side) and causes smoke at higher rpm's

single or twins? I would guess twins do to your post in this forum. If so, I thought i heard there was a restrictor built into them. If that is the case 6 would be larger than needed but fine.

You can run any size oil feed you like as long as there is a restrictor present. The banjo bolts on the stock twins act as oil restrictors. On aftermarket turbos there is usually a fitting with a small hole that screws into the oil inlet on the turbo to act as a restrictor.

A larger feed line won't harm the turbos if the restrictor is present, but anything larger than 4AN is overkill.

yeah it's for a single. i was just going to use 6AN because I have a lot of excess, and also the 14mm-to-6AN adapter is half the price of the 14mm-to-4AN adapter.

So 6 is too big and will cause problems with my single? The oil inlet is small on the turbo, but it doesn't appear that there is any type of "restrictor"?

Most use -4 due to reports of issues with -6

if soemone where to use a restrictor what diameter hole should it have to offer enough flow but not too much, using a -10 drain.
