oil in FD intake

Put in a used engine in my 95 FD. Done neraly 2000 km on it.

Car performing well apart from sometimes low boost in second in 3 goes upto 15lb ft.

Smokes occasionally from start up but clears up quickly. Generally no smoke while starting from cold. Smokes occasionally when starting after its cooled for a few minutes.

Starts almost immediately hot or cold with no coolant loss or oil usage.

However there is oil in the intake on the low speed turbo ie on the left hand one. The car has a HKS intake and a Knightsport ECU.

What could it be ... turbo??? coolant seals ???

regarding the boost spike to 15psi:

you likely need to port your wastegate. (search: port wastegate) additionally, do you have a boost controller?

I agree that it sounds like boost SPIKE, but why do you suggest porting the WG? That's for CREEP.
Hard to tell from his description, but it sounds more like a sequential issue.

i was asking about the wastegate and boost controller. both are going to come into play.

prior to porting my wastegate, i was a bit of spike, even with a manual boost controller (though i now use a blitz dual-sbc).

A BC should control the 15 psi spike. But it's not going to cure low boost issues.
Porting the WG is alot of trouble and premature.

Porting the wastegate can help soften boost spikes, but you'll still need to install a boost controller to account for the change in wastegate size.

Therefore it's sensible to install the boost controller first and see if it solves the boost spike. In most cases it does, and you're done.

I would only start with porting the wastegate if the turbos are off the car and I plan to install the boost controller anyway.

you might try making a "poor mans" manual boost controller using a ball or needle valve from the hardware store (i forget which type works best...)
