Oil in exhaust, how long until is stops smoking?
My 93 had completely failure of the primary turbo. I was in a few pieces when I removed it. When it was running, it pumped a lot of oil down the exhaust. The car's current configuration is DP, MP, with a stock exhaust (it has a boost controller).
I swapped out the set with a used set. They seemed to be in very good shape so I installed them without rebuilding them.
When I first started the car up with the new (used) turbos, it was like a steam locomotive. After about 15 minutes the smoked stopped and the car was running smoke free. After driving around for about 15 minutes, the smoke is back, but not like it was before.
If oil ended up in the exhaust, what is a reasonable amount of driving for it to dissipate or to conclude that the turbos I installed need a rebuild?
The car has idled for about 20 minutes and been driven about 20 minutes.
