I think you can find the fix on the San Diego rx7 club home page... or just to a search water temp / gauge linearization something like that.

you can make the gauge read correctly by following these directions.

Has anyone here actually done it? I'm trying to find someone who can say if it really works well.

I couldn't work any worse, so there isn't much to lose but time trying it out.

Well sure

But should one just get an after market one and not waste the time?

Me? I hate seeing cars with 200 different gauges all over the place. I would say to do this gauge mod and then only had a Boost Gauge and either a EGT or A/F gauge.

If you already have a temp gauge that can work well with a little modification, I see no need to add another one that will do a similar function.

Since I'm in place right now where I'm not driving my car that much (painting interior panels), I'll probably look to do this mod soon. I have all the gauges I ever want to put in the car...

I agree with Majik. I'm in the same situation with my dash laying in pieces. I prefer keeping a simple look without much clutter.
