engine cleaning and vacuum hoses

okay, couldnt search b/c it's currently disabled, but when you get a full detail on your car and they steam clean the engine, would it hurt the vacuum hoses? My fd being the first car I've ever had with hoses as such, and only being 3 weeks in my posession...the hoses are mostly stock (replaced a few), all are rubber, I have a Hose TEchniques silicon kit I will be switching out shortly...but for now, can you get the engine steam cleaned and not have to worry about anything?

Keep the water/steam out of the alternator and upper intake area. Unless your eng bay is really dirty, I would just just simple green to wipe off the grime. It works wonders. Simple green is avail at home depot, kmart, walmart...
