Odometer not working

My odometer stopped working a while ago. I haven't driven the car very much, and a couple of days ago, it illuminated again, but then it turned off. It stopped working when i moved to Washington and i thought maybe the led was damaged from shipping and staying in the box truck during the cold trip. When it came back on i was very surprised. Does anyone know what might be the issue here? Is there some sort of relay that might have a bad connection or something? All my fuses are fine. It is very frustrating not seeing the mileage on the car, especially if i ever want to sell the car.
Thanks,
Loren

Theres two capacitors on the circuit board behind the gauges that typically blow. I replaced mine with a couple from radio shack and it worked fine for about 6K more miles... still works.

Theres an entire thread on how to do it step by step if your not experienced with soldering electronics.....

I did the 2 capacitor replacement on mine twice, but it didnt work for very long at all...So I took it to a place called DNA speedometers (Google them) not far from me, (you can ship it to them). They have experience with FD clusters. They fixed mine about 8 months ago and its still going. They were working on 4 other ones while I was there also.

Yep mileage is not effected, seems capacitors are for illumination. My car has 40k on it and after repairs seems to be working nicely. Just be careful pulling dash apart everything is so brittle.
