Any input on my power upgrade?

Currently: streetport, 3" exhaust, air intake, PFC, stock IC, stock rad...just dyno'd at 289 @ 10.7psi., stock twins. He said there was room for more power but did not want to push it with hot weather coming, and with the stock IC...I can appreciate that. Better than squeezing it like some guys and breaking the engine.

Thinking of doing: fpr, larger secondaries (what size?), fuel pump, larger custom-made intercooler, Koyo rad....plans are nothing crazy....the guy doing the work doesn't like the stock twins for anything more than 15-16psi, which is fine for me...don't see single turbo swap in the future....does this sound like a logical upgrade?

Thanks.

intercooler is the most important thing at this point. rewire the stock fuel pump first and check your injector duty cycles

I think even 15 -16 psi is getting out of the efficiency range of the stock twins. You may want to re-consider a single or turn boost down a bit from that.

A quality SMIC would definitely give you some room. Water injection is also great for keeping your intake temps down, & detonation from happening. A PFC, Supra pump, & larger 1300 secondaries should handle fuel. And of course, the most important is a quality tune.

The OEM fuel system can't be pushed much past 300whp. Rotaries don't like lean, AT ALL. I would upgrade the intercooler, fuel, & get a PFC tune all at once.

That is a pretty good number for 10-11 PSI. Its definitely time to get a better IC.

Yeah I was happy with that too..actually I previously saw a 303whp with that setup...this shop I'm using now seems way more knowledgable and includes caution in their plans, which is key with these awesome FD's of course. The last shop I used....goddamn nightmare...they can keep their 303.

Yep! I'm all about throwing cash at a quality tune too. Just had that done, and things are running well. Just want a decent upgrade with fuel, IC and boost..but done smartly....still need cash aside to paint it! LOL...not for blown engines!

Thanks to all you guys for the input. I know the power upgrade is a pretty basic issue, but it's good to confirm with you guys in here, and sure enough, there were some added points for me to realize. I always appreciate the wealth of RX7 knowledge in here!

This could be a decent grab...IC/rad combo..kinda cool.

I saw that you have 3" exhaust and I'm assuming you have everything (DP,MP,CB) if you don't then do... Get a better IC, up the boost a couple of lbs, and retune.

Great advice here. I'd say I've followed most of it for my car. Mods are in my signature.
