Odometer Illumination fix..?

My Odometer does not register the Mileage (Numbers do not illuminate ~ They are not there). But the Odometer box/display is illuminated.

Are the actual numerals illuminated by a seperate bulb?

Thanks for any advise or input.

just recently found out(I had the exact same problem) that the ground for the odometer is actually on the engine harness. Make sure all the grounds are hooked up.

I had the harness out of the car= no odometer
harness in the car=works fine now

might be something simple like this.........
