odometer help..troubleshooting w/pics
After following the tech book and grounding a couple of wires, i still can't get the odometer to work. This has been like this since I had a PFC installed. I have a few plugs not being used that plug into this box......
what is this box for? would it effect the odometer?
Also, is there a spot on the back of this dash unit that I can apply power to see if the odometer is working?
thanks for any help.

I believe the top tach screw is the ground for the odometer. If you were to follow it through the wiring harness it terminates at the engine block. Hook a voltmeter up to it first to make sure it is a ground, then run a wire from that screw to any ground point on the car.
You may also have bad components on the circuit board itself. https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generation-specific-1993-2002-16/just-got-done-figuring-out-how-fix-fd-odometer-599220/

Got back yesterday from KD rotary with a perfectly working odometer. For future reference.
Dave figured that one of the electrodes went bad, specifically the one marked odo ill....the one by itself in the center. We just swapped it out from a busted dash that I had(it pulls off fairly easy after removing the bulbs and screws) and voila.

man my Speedo hasn't worked for years. when I turn the key 1 turn to see the dash light up the speedo jumps to 18 mph and the RPM's jump to 1500... this is with the engine off. Who did you send your setup to? ADR?
thanks,

I drove the car up to KD Rotary here in Pa. Pulled the dash unit out myself, then let Dave from KD and his mechanics do their magic. They pulled the entire plastic circuit board off and replaced it with another I had from a busted dash unit. worked like a charm.
