Holy EGT's Batman!!!

So a bunch of buddies and I went to the road course track on Friday to have some fun. Well went well but during the last session I stayed out for about 25 minutes and I finally had to come in when the warning light on my defi link egt gauge lit up at 1600 degrees farehneit! My probe is located a few inches down from the turbo on the downpipe. I figured the heat slowly built up to that temp but when should I start to get worried next time I go?

the differential between pre and post turbo egts generally varies between 50 and 200 d F depending on throttle postion.

the overall level varies greatly with specific setup.

the OEM turbosystem is very engine unfriendly not only egtwise but backpressure too.... a lethal combo. assuming a 200 degree diff at full throttle you are at 1800 preturbo egt.

placing you right on the EGT edge of doing a search for engine builders.

i suggest the addition of a water injection system. properly tuned, your egts will drop 150 degrees and you will see no more warning light. you have some excellent mods and are just lacking the key.

'hope you had fun ontrack,

howard

My probe is placed in a similar spot, and my EGTs dont get past 1300 degrees, even after flogging the car repeatedly through the 11 mile Tail of the Dragon. full 4 inch exhaust with windshield wiper fluid injection

isn't a bit high for 13psi and v-mount ?

Consider a re-tune....... or a rebuild :P

Does your v-mount is duct properly ?

Good luck anyway

Well i haven't updated the sig in a while but i was not running 13psi on track. I did turn it down some. The Vmount is ducted properly. I had zero issues with coolant or oil temps. My intake temps were a bit higher, around 50 degrees Celcius, but it was around 90-95 on friday.

Well if i have to get the AI and a retune then i'll probably just start a new build. I think i've had my fun with the twins. I've been so far with them and done some amazing things in my book so it's about time to retire them and go for a more track friendly 500R.

And btw, the reason i stayed out for so long was because i was trying to chase down another Rx7 that happened to show up
