odd problem

I just got a new clutch installed 3 days before this problem started so heres how it started when i was driving my car home from getting my new clutch i was at a red light and then it turned green and as i gave it gas and as i slowly let out the clutch i could feel some noise in the clutch petal it felt like something was grinding from there i want home and called it a night and the next mourning i had to get up early for work i started up the engine and the whole car started to rumble so i opened the hood and the was shaking like crazy and i could hear a low pitch grinding noise coming somewhere close to my engine then i noticed there was some fine smoke coming from the area where my gearbox and my clutch is so i shut off my engine quick.

what do you think the problem is?

oh and i have a 1994 mada rx-7 touring and my aftermarket clutch is a "centerforce dual friction"

Just a quess, they may have screwed the pilot bearing when the trans was pushed back in . You will know for sure when you take it apart .

Grinding? I'll keep thinking on this one. As for the smoke.... check to see if any of the wire harness has been pinched in between the bellhousing and engine. Any warning lights or anything come on?

There is a cover that can be removed on the tranny to loosen the pressure plate. Remove it, and take a look. If you can't see anything out of place, you will probably have to pull the tranny back out to find the problem.

Nope, no warning lights are coming on and the smoke has no smell to it

Did the shop replace the Throw out bearing? Adamc called it ,, look thru the inspection hole and see what you can see. Then remove the tranny agin. The shop "should" cover this as it was just done...I'm guessing a shop did the work correct? ( that's the impression I got)

did they replace or resurface the flywheel? How does the car feel power wise? Does it feel like the clutch is slipping? How about the pedal freeplay/pedal adjustment? Honestly i would give the shop a call on Monday and see what they have to say.Have your reciepts and copy of the work order handy for info purposes. I.E.: what mechanic did the work, etc...Aloha, Dave
