Odd noise

The other day after a few days of not driving, I noticed a strange noise when I would push the clutch in to shift. Didn't matter if I was driving it hard w/ boost, or just easy. It also makes the noise as you do accelerate hard and just as the boost goes up, it makes the exact same noise.
Any ideas? I will try to remember to get my MP3 recorder at work and I'll record it.
Mark

Yeah, maybe the throw-out bearing.

Transmission problem is what I thought at first until I noticed it did it during accelleration also as the turbos kick in

Ok, here it is. Hope you can here it good. I'm in 3rd gear in this clip and hitting almost 1/2 throttle. When it gets to the point where the turbo kicks in (at the 4 seconds point), you can hear it. It makes the same noise when the turbo kicks in and when I lift off the accelerator to shift. Sometimes (rare) it doesn't do it, but most of the time it does. If I am accelerating very slow, and for sure not using any boost, it doesn't seem to do it.
Sorry I had to zip such a small file. Wouldn't let me upload MP3s

Is that what the airpump "moo" sounds like? I've never heard it before.

Yeah, weird sound but doesn't sound like metal on metal. Kind of a "WHUUURRRR" sound. Has to be "air" induced maybe?

The problem seemed to be getting louder last night driving up through the mountains. Would failing turbos cause any noise like that?

hard to tell from clip without seeing rpms and boost but one possibility could be a sticky blow off valve.
