occasional ABS light

Had this happened few month ago and now today.

I drove car at lunch and light illuminated. Then I shut it down and started again. After driving for a while - light came back again.

Drove home at night - all was good. We have some snow, so I braked there and ABS worked no problem.

I cleaned all sensors and rings, all is good. What else it could be? If I had light always on - I would go by FSM procedure, but with this sporadic behavior I wonder what else can I check..

check your fluid level. hard braking will iluminate the light if the brake fluid is a little low.

Also try bleeding the brakes as long as you're topping off the MC.

I've had this happen after working on the brakes. Re-bleeding cleared it up.

Search on the forum, you're not the first person to experience this.

It could be a sign of a sensor starting to go bad. Before you replace sensors make sure to clean off any brake shavings, esp on the front sensors.

I will try to re- bleed once again. I had calipers rebuilt and used power bleeder first without much success (it worked on different cars)

Then I did it "old way" with a friend. Pedal feels good, light is occasional. Maybe once in 2 weeks. Level is good.

Replacing ABS sensors is a waste since it's hard to know which one. I cleaned to make sure there is no shavings, etc.

You can test the ABS sensors with a multimeter before you replace them. You unplug them and test resistance, make sure you rotate the wheels as the resistance changes as the wheels turn.

Engage the ABS a couple times to make the pump cycle, might help get the air out. I've put two COMPLETELY torn apart FDs together (check sig) and never had any problems with air in the system causing an ABS light.

I know. But it won't show since it's just "glitches" right now.
