O2 Sensor's-Bosche Universal OK to use?

Time for a new O2 sensor. And i am doing it myself this time instead of letting another shop rape my bank account again. Mistake number 1: Went to NAPA, got the O2 sensor (had to get universal or wait two week for OEM that's 10 times more expensive) came home, ripped the piping and airbox out so i could get to the sensor, then realized i dont have a damn O2 sensor wrench Now im waiting for my mom to pick me up and haul my *** back to NAPA so i can get teh socket

Apparently, i just splice the singe wire of the universal O2 sensor into the factory O2 wire. This Universal O2 will work ok? They swore up and down it would...but i would rather check this forum since y'all really know your stuff. Are there any tricks to the swap? It looks pretty straight forward.

Thanks

That is what I am using right now, and before the Bosche universal I was using an OEM Ford Taurus SHO O2 sensor for about a month.

i believe they are the same o2 sensor. my friend bought one for my car and the universal was the same as the oe replacement....both bosche: one had to be hard wired ($30~); the other had the factory plug ($120~)

uhhh, you do the math for which is on my car

Yep I posed this question about a month ago, do a search for Bosch and you should come up with the recommended part number or at least one of them. I believe there are a couple different part numbers that will work for universal o2 sensors. I paid $19.00 for mine.

The Bosch unit works fine. Not a problem and cheap to boot.

ive been running the bosch one for about a year, with no problems. BTW u dont need a O2 wrench, i used a regular 17mm or 19mm wrench. cant remember which one. props to u for doing your own work. something that a shop could have easly ripped u off for.

My bosch has been in for about a year with no issues. I just cut the connector off the old sensor and soldered it to the universal. a little shrink wrap and it looks like it was meant to be there.

Yep, Bosch universal here. I have an aftermarket Bonez downpipe and I can easily remove/install the O2 sensor from underneath with a crescent wrench. Not sure if that's possible with the stock downpipe.

Bosch O2 for five years. Works just fine. Make sure you put anti-sieze on the new one... I still buy OEM Mazda oil filters though. But that's another thread.......

Bosch is fine, just get the one you have to splice unless you somehow fucked up your harness. O2 sensors are only used during idle and low RPM, so its not realyl that big of a deal. I believe the stock O2's are NTK
