o-ring idea for the oil pan

So the GZ oil pan has an o-ring and I was thinking about doing something similar with the oem pan.

I have an oil pan brace but still developed a leak, I guess I took too long to install it after the sealant was there causing some curing to occur and not seal properly.

the oil pan brace goes outside of the pan so what if there was an oil pan brace type of gasket with o-rings on both sides that goes inside of the pan sealing against the block and the pan??

I've seen something similar used on gearboxes, 1/8 thick aluminum spacer with grooves on both sides with rubber. Not exactly o-rings but I figure o-rings would be easier and replaceable.

thoughts?

I though about this as well when I was sealing my oil pan. I would be nice to have the tools and machinery to experiment with ideas like this.

a good idea, but easier to just install your pan correctly than the R & D for this.

Well a good friend of mine owns a machine shop... and I have a leaky oil pan with brace... it could be an interesting experiment!
