Nylon shifter pivot bushing

I'm not sure if that is the right name for it but mine broke in half. It is the nylon thingy on the botton of the shifter that helps the ball move and operate smoothly.

Does anyone know where I can get a metal one?

The mazdaspeed bushing is only a couple dollars more than the stock unit and it makes a noticeable difference in shifter feel. You can order it through mazdaspeedmotorsports. Because it is not an OEM piece you don't need an account to order it.

You do need an account. Mazda changed that policy a year or so ago:

"MAZDASPEED MOTORSPORTS DEVELOPMENT will NO LONGER be selling to non racers. You will need to be a registered member of our program, with current race results, to purchase ANY parts from us. You will also need to log in with a valid ID and password, to view our catalog.

It has been our policy in the past that if someone still wished to purchase a competition part, even though they weren't a member, we would still sell it to them. This is longer the case. (It will take some time for us to update all areas of our site to reflect this.)

There are many online stores catering to Mazda performance parts now, and with the new MAZDASPEED performance accessories that should be in Mazda dealerships soon, Mazda owners should be able to find the performance parts they need. Check out the Links Directory at the Mazda Performance Corner for help finding parts.

MAZDASPEED MOTORSPORTS DEVELOPMENT will be refocusing our business activities around our Team Support members and racing. We are busy making improvements to our site for the benefit of our racers."

I have the aluminum bushing from Mazda Motorsports and highly recommend it. The one Mazdatrix sells looks exactly the same.

do they accept drag racing results? they let me select drag racing as the type but do I need to have an SCCA membership or does it count as long as it's a drag racing competition where I end up with a place?

Hence a couple of us mentioned that it was available from Mazdatrix...

Go to www.mazdatrix.com, go to "RX-7 parts & accessories", go to "Transmission and Differential, Driveshafts, Short Shifters" then go to "Short Shifters, Shifter Boots and Bushings, U-Joints, Driveshafts", then scroll down until you find the part where it says "Shifter Bushings, (A) 74-80, 93-95 Aluminum". The part number starts with 02-9401...

Pretend you're playing Where's Waldo. It's on this page

As long as it's in sanctioned competiton drag racing counts. Just going down to the strip on a Sat night and getting some timeslips doesn't count. The idea is the car must compete.

Meiogirl: I don't think that is what I had in mind but they do look interesting. Does anyone have these?

I ordered an aluminum one from Mazdatrix, thanks for the info 2a+Ron. I bought it and had it shipped 2nd day air for 26 dollars. I believe the shipping was 12 dollars and the bushing was 14.

Batman: The symptom of my broke nylon one was that the shifter feel was a little loose and I could hear and feel metal on metal clanging when I shifted. If this is your problem, unbolt the shifter assembly from the console to see if it is broken. Mine had worn or broken in half.

Dunno if FDs will have this problem, but in my AE86, the TRD short shifter came w/ a brass bushing on the bottom which rattles pretty loudly once the revs go past 5.5k due to the metal-metal contact between the bushing and the tranny. I'd be interested in hearing if the aluminum bushing will show the same symptoms in an FD...
