numbers matching...
Hey guys,
Again, I'm new to the rx7 world so this might be a dumb question. But I've noticed that a lot of people buy JDM engines, swap for an engine with lower mileage, do the LS1 conversion, send in their core but get a different reman engine, yet this doesn't seem to hurt the resale value of the car? My question is, do people care if you have a numbers matching rx7? This may be unique to rx7s, b/c nearly every other car I know, especially american muscle, numbers matching cars will fetch a higher value.

As having once been in the mid-year Corvette crowd worrying about matching numbers, it's a relief to be out of that nonsense....
However, are there numbers on the block that link it to the chassis? Where would you find them?

but none of the numbers correspond to the chassis itself? I always had thought people went about replacing their motors kind of carelessly, always assumed there wasn't any real identifying numbers linking the chassis/powertrain.
The 13B-REW engine number and the FD chassis number are completely separate. A Mazda warranty report might be able to link the original engine to the chassis, but that would be the only real way to do it.
