Now that's a new problem. . .spiders!

So my car has sat ~2 months under a cover while I finish my engine/tranny rebuild as well as a few other goodies (WI, manual steering conversation, 2 cycle reservoir for OMP, etc).

Last weekend we went to prep the car for towing to my friends garage to finish the project (eg. pull cat back, pull driveshaft, re-mount steering rack). While we were jacking the car up, I saw a black widow crawling on one of the tires (sssssshhhhhttttt!). I killed it and we moved on.

Turns out that they had made a nest in the empty engine bay as well as separate webs in every single wheel well. We even came across an egg sac that had already burst and was spewing dozens of them. Our final rough estimate was approximately 60 of the buggers.

While I didn't get pictures during the extermination (I was more concerned about getting the job done right), I'll snap some if they crop up again when I get the car towed (I'm sure I couldn't possibly have gotten all of them).

So good fun there.

I just pray that they didn't get curious about the interior since the shifter console and the place where the A/C lines punch through the firewall are hanging wide open. I can deal with them in wheel wells since I've got a lot of running room (literally), but I can't imagine what would happen if one cropped up while I was driving. I'd probably just tuck and roll out the door while still cruising at 45 mph.

I wouldnt be surprised if more appear a few days later. I had some black widows under my BMW while I was fixing it and I kept killing a new one every day for about 2 weeks. I'm not sure I got all of them but at least none made it into the interior. These spiders are hard to kill since they move so fast when they sense you coming! They literally disappear in a flash! I hope none get brave and try to bite you if you run into one by accident.

Unless your interior is filled with bugs theyre not likely to make a home for very long. This is why there are so few spiders INSIDE houses.

You should get some kind of lizard or something that eats black widows. That way you can have a new pet and your car will be safe.

Buy a couple of those aerosol pest bombs. Put one inside and one underneath your car and set them off. It should take care of them. You'll probably need to clean your interior really well afterward but a little soap and water should clean it good enough. Do it soon before they lay more eggs that might hatch after you spray.

This might be slightly off subject, but a while ago I was cruzing to the bay area, and all of a sudden I saw a bee on my leg while I was driving!! I freaked out, turned off my music and swered a little bit out of shock. It took a few minutes before I found a safe place to pull to the side of the freeway, get out of my car, and wipe the damn bee of my pants!! lol The scariest part was trying to remain calm, when there is a bee crawling on my leg closer and closer to my shirt!

I still to this day have no idea how a bee flew into my car while driving, and landed on my leg

i have a similar story. a friend was taking me on a pull in his turbo RSX and a bee flew into the car while we were going about 35 and landed on his back. poor guy got stung!

my car is also sitting right now so I really hope that doesn't happen. i go out every so often to say hi, but i havent looked under the bonnet to see if i have friends.

Yes, the sent of moth ***** will drive away any insect, rodent and even snakes. The sent can get strong, that's why I recommend a single one and add if needed.

The mothball idea may be worth a try. Thankfully we found only one fully mature female (huge with the red hour glass marking). She was hanging out on the Koyo near the web in the engine bay. The rest were just males or juveniles that are smaller and have white stripes on them.

That's why we have A/C in the car, so no need to keep windows or sunroof open

if non are in the interior of the car, when you add the engine and its all don't, any in the engine bay will be fried and hopefully no more..

i had a story with a bee in my moms car while i was using it, and it was ******* huge! i am not talking about a quarter size, it seemed just a little bigger.. i just left some ones house and i had my windows down. i roll them up and turn on the a/c and i start hearing the buzzing sound. my moms car has a couple things that vibrate since she has cd cases on the door holder and such,i figured it was the radio vibrating everything so i was banging around to find where it was coming from but nothing. i lucky got off the street and was in a complex, saw a huge bee to the top right of the main window.. cars were behind me and i had to drive sliding down barely able to see while this this was coming closer. finally i got out the car left the door open and waited 15-20 mins.. i almost called someone to pick me up, i hate bees
