no, but you can have someone build you a N/A 13b engine......not sure why you would want to other than the vacuum hose problems, but then you could go non-seq for that matter.

 

Not from the factory no. However, there are some N/A FD's rolling around that have had engine transplants.

If you look in the web, there is a in car video of a N/A FD over in Japan I believe running down the highway. It gets torn up by a few Skylines.

 

well i dont have the car YET i wanted to know because of insurents(sp?) im only 16 but i was look at the cost of them and the insurents is way out there for turbos. also does the 2 gen RX7 share the same chassie as the 3 gen?

Your only option for insurance is to get the car insured with your parents as the primary driver. Then add you on as a secondary driver.

If you get a policy with you as the primary driver, your rates will be higher than your car payment.

That's a good idea no matter what sports car you attempt to get until you are around 19 years old.

 

No, the 2nd gen has nothing in common with the 3rd gen. The 3rd gen was purpose built from the ground up, and therefore ahs a completely different chassis.

 

well mine and my parants insurents is goin to be high VERY if i get the cars i want (i can only get 1) a 1986.5 -1992 Supra Turbo or an 1993-1995 RX7 Turbo or TT dont matter. Plus my mom and dad drive an 2001 merc cruger, 1988 BMW 535 I, 1995 Ford F-150 and a 1999 Corvette. so our insurents is goin to be high. i just got SCC and it tells you how to get the RX7 cheaper and all kinds of detals. or i can wait till i graduate and get a RX7 TT and just drive the BMW for now?? so what do you think??

 

The insurance won't go up that much more for your parents. If they really have that many cars on their policy, the FD would be a drop in the bucket.

I recommend getting a quote from your parents' insurance company with them as the primary driver on whatever sports car you want and you as the secondary. You'll be amazed at the price difference than with you as the primary driver.

 

ill have my dad do that. but on a cool note me and friend bryan just took the BMW out to see what it could do and WOW. We did a few burnouts, donuts, and hit 120 MPH on a old factory road. the scary part is that the brake light came on telling us we had NO BRAKES and the coolant light came too. that is with an exaust leak,all stock parts and both of us in the car (240-260lbs) and a messed up Radiator

 

I know this may be kind of sensitive for some of you but what are you guys paying for insurance. I'll be 19 in March and I am planning to sell my current car and buy a Fd with that money but that won't happen until May. When I am finally done with this semester. Should I put it on my own insurance or keep it under my father's? Only problem is that the car will be in Pennsylvania for 9 months out of the year, not SC where I'm from. Just suggestions I would like before I start throwing money at the car. Oh yeah in case anyone was wondering, yes I do feel like a total newbie now. It's kind of humbling. In fact I think my ***** just shrank. Damn.

I would recommend waiting until you graduate to get the RX-7 and drive the BMW for now if cost is an issue. That way you can save up your money for repairs on the RX-7. Aside from insurance costs, the 7 will probably cost another 2k-4k per year to maintain. So, if you're insurance costs $1k per year, and you dump in another $3k per year maintaining the car, not to mention gas (about another $500 per year for 5000 miles), thats a lot of money to spend on a car for a 16-year old. Now, if you have the money or your parents will give it to you, hey, go for it, just be careful not to kill yourself.

 

Oh, and I'll second that recommendation for putting the car on your dad's insurance if you're living at home. Best thing to do if you're living at home is put yourself as the primary driver on the cheapest car in the family and put yourself as secondary driver on the more expensive car. If you don't live at home you can still do the same thing but it'll cost more (of course you can lie about where you live but that is fraud).
