What does it feel like when you try to engage reverse?

Does the shifter move into the reverse gear position? Or is that blocked?

If you decide to tear into it, try removing just the extension housing first (take off shifter and ppf connection) and see if the shifter gates are all intact.

Im bumping this thread due to the exact same reason.

Finished the install of my ACT clutch kit and JDM tranny, and i cant get the damn thing into reverse. Every other gear is perfect...i cant stomp on it (to see if 5th grinds and made reverse stuck) as of yet because i have to break in the new clutch first. When i did drive it down the street there were no problems in any gears

trying to put it into reverse is like its hitting a wall, no grinding, no going into gear but just not moving....just as if there is no gate/channel to pop into.

I assume you've tried clutching in/out with it in neutral, to no effect?

Id have to say i think i have tried it all....car on, car off, clutch depressed and not, double clutching etc

Im truely boggled....i tried again today and i pulled with all my might and it wouldnt budge. i thought id at least get a little grinding noise from me trying to engage it and it not wanting to, but not even a sound! Just a non exsisting reverse lol

Like i said it drives pefectly fine...all gears. Id like to see whats going on inside the tranny, but i really dont feel like dropping it again

I thought id mention i have a C's short shifter too, but it was in my old tranny also, so it shouldnt matter

You dont have to push down then over in a JDM trans do you? Wouldnt surprise me if they did some odd like this. Silly but worth a shot.

I have a jdm tranny and there is no pushing down involved. It should just slide right in like all the other gears.

There's not much I can suggest that doesn't involve pulling the trans and disassembling down to reverse gear.

have you tried light throttle, pulling lightly into reverse and easing the clutch out all at the same time. repeat this while shifting into 1st between sets a few times and see if it works. don't force it because that's probably how it ended up in it's current state.

^ got to do that on my honda sometimes going into first. It goes like halfway in and then i let the clutch out halfway and pops right in.

In my old Porsche, 2nd and reverse had the same ratio, so if you went from 2nd to reverse while rolling slowly, it would slide into reverse.

Most of the time.
