Question no oil useage

hey guys, my 99 fd hasnt used any oil as far as im concerned in about 3000 km, i check the oil every morning and it is always just over the top of the full mark on the dipstick, ?? am geting a bit worried, so i havnt been driving it, the car has been serviced every 5000 km oil, filter and plugs, i use valvolive 20 w 50 oil which was recomended by my local workshop, so any input will be much apreciated,

Why are you worried? I think that the oil that the rotary consumes is replaced with fuel byproducts. Note: This is assuming you have no oil leaks. If your car is leaking oil from the pan or wherever, you should see a slow reduction in volume of oil.

Therefore, if your car "burns" 10% oil, its replaced with 10%fuel products. For this reason, many people change oil every 2-3k mi (not sure what that converts to in km). The fuel byproducts are not a good lubricant and cause a dilution of the oil.

Mobile1 10-30 or 20-50 is supposed to be a good oil to use

I'm guessing that you don't beat on it very often? Rotary's burn oil in higher proportions when you drive them harder. On my old Turbo II I would get neglible oil consumption if I didn't get on it very hard over an extended period of time.

My FD uses no oil either. My FC was using about a quart every 2000 miles or so, basically normal. I agree that fuel dilution takes place (meaning you get fuel in your oil) in certain cars. There have been hundreds of threads about this, most agree that if you are not using a quart every 2K - 3K miles, you likely have a MOP (metering oil pump) problem. The FDs seem to be somewhat prone to this, which is why so many people just pre-mix.

One question I would like to ask is: Of those that reported low or no oil use, how long did the engine last? Mine went at 93K miles.

i have now traveld about 18,000 kms which is 11,250 miles in about 16 weeks lol it is my daily driver, havnt had any probs till now, i was probably adding about 1 ltr of oil in between every 5,000 km service, now the car has started smoking at idle and acording sum others on this forum i have blown a turbo, so i hav been driving it easy to get it through until it goes into the shop for the insurance claim to fix the turbos,

Then i read this

quote "I'm guessing that you don't beat on it very often? Rotary's burn oil in higher proportions when you drive them harder. On my old Turbo II I would get neglible oil consumption if I didn't get on it very hard over an extended period of time."

then after reading this i thought that this was why i was using less or no oil, cos i had been nana driving it, ???? im hoping this is the prob, how can i test or check if the omp is ok or working properly?? i hav a pfc but not a datalogit yet, just a commander.
Thanks mark
